Letter From The Chapter President

Letter From The Chapter President

Hello there!

I am so glad you've stopped by to learn a little bit more about our chapter! We are a group of empowering, diverse women who can't wait to get to know you and show you what Greek life is all about!

I joined Tri Sigma in Fall of 2019 and I was terrified; that probably wasn’t something you expected to hear but it’s the truth. I was 2 hours away from my family, starting a new school and to top it off my ex of almost 2 years broke up with me, on the first day of school. I wanted to do nothing more but to go home, cry and finish off the rest of the year at a junior college. However, my roommate convince me to go through recruitment with her to take my mind off of everything for a little while. I thought it was ridiculous, why would I want to sit through and watch/listen to a bunch of preppy privilege girls tell me about how much they want me, when really, they wanted my money. None of the less I signed up and went through and on day 1 I fell in love with Sigma, the minute I walk through those doors I felt so comfortable. I felt as though I didn’t have to put on this act and pretend to be someone I’m not. That whole weekend I would wake up every day excited because I got to talk to someone in Sigma, even if it was for 20 minutes, the conversation felt like hours. No matter our differences, I was able to find something in common with almost every girl I talked to. As embarrassing as it might sound, when I got my bid I could not stop crying. I felt like I finally found a place to call my home away from home. Going into my third year, nothing has changed I love each and everyone of these girls with all my heart. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for them and know they feel the same way about me.

As Sigma women, we strive to make positive impacts on and off the TWU campus. If you are looking for a quick way to get plugged into TWU, Greek life is the perfect way to do that! In our chapter, we strive to make relationships with other organizations and people/businesses within our community. We focus on service by volunteering around DFW and helping out wherever we can. Being college students first, we understand that academics are the main priority. Tri Sigma provides its members with educational programs and study hours to push each and every woman to succeed academically.

I know social media and movies make sororities seem like this huge cult in which everyone hates each other. Trust me I had the exact same impression of it, but in reality, Sigma is so much more than that. We provide you with friendships and bonds which will last a lifetime, leadership skills that help you in your future careers. But best of all, this sorority helps you discover yourself, coming into college I was this shy, introverted 18-year-old. Through Sigma I held multiple leadership positions that helped shaped me into who I am today. I hope you enjoy your time here learning about Sigma!

Sigma love and mine,

Angie Escobedo
